Interesting coincidence! Our kitten, Mr. Fluffington’s, mother’s name is Aspen and it was the Bach Flower remedy ASPEN that helped our terrified rescue, Shasta, relax and begin to use her litter box.
When we adopted Shasta she displayed constant fear and hid under the clothes in our closet for six weeks. She arrived with a bad behavior. At night, she emerged to urinate on the couch.
We
were trying to solve the mystery to help her when a male cat sprayed on our front door. We wondered if she felt threatened, because she opted to use the couch 6 times in 8 days. (It was covered with a waterproof bedcover because we had heard she had done this in her previous home.)
When she misused the furniture, she slunk around the house flinching like she was expecting a yelling session and to be beaten. We did neither, as this behavior never solves a problem, especially
when an animal is already traumatized.
The vet declared Shasta UTI free and suggested a stress relaxing drug. Drugging a young cat for life was not an option for us or her.
We read about Jackson Galaxy’s pet emotional remedies. https://www.jacksongalaxy.com/collections/jacksons-essentials
We researched Jackson's site and also Bach Flower remedies for cats’ emotional balancing. Shasta was already taking Bach's Rescue Remedy for anxiety/stress/trauma.
'ASPEN' displayed many of her fears from our research! We gave it to her and she immediately relaxed, sleeping most of the day. She also has not misused the furniture after receiving the Bach Flower. It worked that
fast! Like a light switch!
Consult a homeopathic veterinarian, do your own research and follow your instincts. I am not diagnosing, prescribing or recommending. The purr-puss of Shasta's journey is to learn that pets’ emotions can dictate their behaviors and to never write them off as angry at you. There is a reason they are communicating by misusing their litter box.
A Yorke dog in our neighborhood is also experiencing the same issues as Shasta. He is
overwhelmed with larger dogs in the home and noisy children. A relative’s new cat began urinating all around their home, no UTI, but there were two dogs and three male cats, and young children. Pawsibly Aspen could have helped these animals instead of putting them outside to live. A shelter told me that many pets end up with them for this problem. Imagine if this remedy also helped them stay in their homes and not be relinquished.
Imagine if this beautiful cat and others like
her were given away for an easy to solve situation?
Shasta is as grateful as we are that she is relaxed and using her litter box and would appreciate you sharing this information with other cat groups/lovers/rescues to help pet parents help their furry family.
