It was a day for celebration. Our daughter, Ariel, and her husband, Yossa, just had their third child. They kept the baby’s name a secret.
My husband, their other two children and I poured into Ariel’s hospital room to meet the new family member.
When they introduced us to “Baby William”, his name had a familiar ring, but it took a minute to recall why. Her husband gently picked up William and said, “Come here Buddy” and handed him to my husband.
I knew those names from somewhere! Then it hit! Their cat is William and their dog is Buddy!
The baby was named after a repetitive family name, but the stray cat apparently took longer to name. When the kitten showed up on their porch, Yossa realized he had another pet mouth to feed! He instantly knew he had another "bill" to budget for, including a neutering bill! From Bill, the cat’s name evolved to honor Prince William’s recent marriage. It made sense, the cat had begun ruling their home, it has an outside cat-castle enclosure and it lost its "family jewels"
(neutered).
Their rescue Dalmatian dog was named Buddy because he is everyone’s best buddy.
Pets resonate to their name and feel honored with a good name.
