Dearest Pet Lovers,

When someone is ill, the family pet cat takes their job of helping heal them seriously!  They jump up onto the bed or coach and add warmth and love to their human family member.

But think on this!  The family is cautious with towels, toothbrushes etc....but what about the germs they lovingly hug, or accidentally cough, or sneeze onto the pet?

Wash your hands before and after you touch your family's pet.  Place used kleenex in a paper bag beside the bed, or a garbage container.

May you, your family, and your family's pets stay healthy this holiday season!

H1N1 Influenza Virus Confirmed in Iowa Cat

The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) confirmed a case of the H1N1 flu virus in pets.  "A 13-year-old cat in Iowa developed signs of a respiratory infection after several people in the household were ill. Preliminary testing was positive for 2009 H1N1 on October 29, and the results were confirmed on November 2. This is the first report of a cat infected with H1N1. The cat has recovered from its illness. To date, this is the first cat confirmed infected with the 2009 H1N1 virus."
